This May, the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) released a memorandum focusing this year’s National Children’s Month (NCM) celebration theme on the rights of children on November 2019.
The theme of the Children's Month Celebraton is dubbed as “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan” in relation to the “Karapatan ng mga Bata” of the Philippine Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) implementation and accomplishments and was approved by the Council Board on April 2019.
This year’s celebration aims to celebrate the gains and successes of the country in promoting and protecting the children.
Further, the theme is also crafted to intensify the public’s awareness and remind all sectors of the community and society to be responsible in raising-up the Filipino child to become a well-rounded person.
“We need to further institutionalize a child-friendly environment and governance, and strengthen the actions of the stakeholders and partner agencies in implementing the rights of children,” said Mark Alison Follosco of the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children (RCWC).
He added, “It is also essential that children are empowered as right-holders and duty-bearers for them to deliver their responsibilities and commitments to promote, protect and fulfill their rights.”
The NCM every November is pursuant to Republic Act No.
10661, observed by CWC, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Youth Commission (NYC), which are considered as lead organizations for the yearly celebration.
